Domaine Pierre Gelin Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru

The leading producer in the village of Fixin, Domaine Pierre Gelin was established in 1925. The 13-hectare domaine includes holdings in five of the eight Premier Crus in Fixin, including full ownership of the famed Clos Napoléon. Pierre-Emmanuel, Pierre’s grandson, has been making wines for the domaine since 2000. Being environmentally conscious, Pierre-Emmanuel practises organic farming (although not certified) and works to minimize impact in the cellar as well. He aims to produce pure and honest wines – and he succeeds! His wines are well-structured and benefit from a few years of ageing in order to reveal their full potential.

MEET OUR FOUNDER

Simon Tam

Founder & Auctioneer
Born in Hong Kong and growing up in Australia, with vineyards literally on his doorstep, Simon Tam has been developing and nurturing wine lovers in Asia for the last three decades. Always ahead of his time, Simon opened the first wine schools in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Macao in 1993. He was the author of the first ever “Chinese Food & Wine Pairing” column in South China Morning Post, where he elaborated on the art of pairing day-to-day family dishes with some of the most coveted wines in the world. The iconic ‘Mapo Tofu with JJ Prum Spatlese Riesling’ pairing was a particular fan favourite! He also pioneered the food pairing app “Flavour Colours”, based on changing of the seasons and finding the right wine pairings, particularly for Chinese dishes. Simon has always been passionate about bringing wine lovers from different cultures together, focusing on bringing ‘the delicious West to the thirsty East’. He was voted “Best Wine Consultant” by the UK’s Wine Business International magazine for his consultancy work with many winemaker associations around the world. Simon has judged in more than 150 wine competitions worldwide. He is the co-founding director of Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Competition, and was also founding chairman of the Greater China Wine Critics Association. He spent a decade as Christie’s Asia Pacific Head of Wine, joining as the first Chinese Head of Wine in the Company’s 250-year history. Itching to break away from tradition and de-mystify the fine and rare wine industry, Simon founded Aeos Auctions. His mission is to share his passion with wine lovers from all walks of life. “At Aeos Auctions, we simply share good taste” Simon notes.
