Now in the exceptionally capable hands of second-generation, Jean-François Germain, Domaine Henri Germain is considered one of the very, very best white Burgundy producers – and not simply by critics globally. Perhaps more importantly, certainly more telling, is that fellow producers – including the likes of Bruno Clair (whose brother apparently regularly tells him that Germain’s wines are much better than his!) and Benjamin Leroux – are almost effusive, by Burgundy standards, in their praise of both his viticulture and winemaking. His methods are very traditional, practising organic viticulture, low yields and minimal intervention in the cellar.
